The big news story for 1983, was the introduction of the totally redesigned Mighty series. Six Mighty series trucks were manufactured. They were the #3901 Mighty Dump, #3903 Construction Pickup, #3905 Mighty Mixer, #3920 Mighty Loader, #3925 Mighty Crane and #3931 Mighty Backhoe.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: The #3903 Construction Pickup was not released with the graphics as pictured in the 1983 Tonka dealer catalog. These are pictures of what was found on store shelves. The truck that made it into the catalog was an preproduction example available at the time of the photo shoot.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: New for 1983, model #3903 Construction Pickup was only manufactured for one year.

Sometimes the catalog is wrong. Review the model #3903 Construction Pickup as shown in the Tonka dealer catalog. Looks a little different than the trucks featured just below. These trucks are the real deal. Model #3903 was only available in 1983. Apparently the Tonka dealer catalog was published before the graphics on the truck were approved and finalized. If you've been looking for the version featured in the catalog, now you know why it cannot be found. From the David Stanley collection.
