Only six Mighty series trucks were manufactured in 1982. Those models carrying over from 1981 were: #3900 Mighty Dump, #3920 Mighty Loader, #3940 Mighty Crane and #3953 Fashion Buggy. Two new models were added, #3820 Mighty Roughneck Pickup and #3965 Mighty Off-Road Adventure Buggy. All other models were dropped from production.
1982 marked the last full year Tonka trucks, all series, would be manufactured in Mound, MN. Tonka opened a new manufacturing facility in El Paso, Texas and another across the Rio Grande from El Paso in Juarez, Mexico. Mexico would manufacture the smaller series of trucks like Mini Tonka and El Paso the larger series like the Regular, Compact and Mighty.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Graphics used on the cab of the 1982 Mighty Dump and Mighty Crane (see example above) were used for one year only.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: 1982 was the last year for the original sized Mighty trucks. Beginning in 1983, a slightly smaller, updated design would see the Mighty series into the 21st century.
