1978 to 1997 Cab Decal
Eleven models were manufactured in 1981. They were: #3800 Mighty Roughneck Pickup, #3956 Bell System Service Truck, #3900 Mighty Dump, #3907 Mighty Dozer, #3915 Mighty Wrecker, #3920 Mighty Loader, #3940 Mighty Crane, #3953 Fashion Buggy, #3954 Mighty Off-Road Adventure Buggy and #3991 Mighty Car Carrier. New for 1981 was model #3810 Blue Velvet Pickup. Model #3885 Winnebago Camper, #3950 Mighty Mixer and #3985 Mighty Custom Van were deleted.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: If you look real close at the cap nut used on the axle of Mighty series trucks prior to 1981, you will notice what appears to be 6 lug nuts. That embellishment was deleted beginning in 1981 to reduce cost. Tonka could now purchase cap nuts off the shelf.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: The loading ramp on #3991 Mighty Car Carrier changed from steel to plastic. The hubs changed to the removable style with a hot stamped silver trim ring. All graphics changed from the 1980 version making both years easily distinguishable.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Model #3915 Wrecker hubs changed to the removable style with a hot stamped silver trim ring (as on the 1981 Mighty Car Carrier).
