Continuing forward in 1968 were model #3900 Mighty Dump, model #3920 Mighty Loader, model #3930 Mighty Shovel, model #3935 Mighty Scraper, model #3940 Mighty Crane and model #3990 Mighty Car Carrier. New for 1968 were model #3906 Mighty Dozer and Model #4000 Mighty Construction Set.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: The most noticeable change, if you are looking at the 1968 Tonka dealer catalog, are model numbers. Tonka grew their product line again in 1968 by adding the Tiny series. In order to ease inventory control problems, a new part numbering system was implemented. The effect on the Mighty series was that all individually packaged trucks would carry a four digit model number beginning with the number three (3). Thusly, the #2900 Mighty Dump made in 1967 became model #3900 in 1968, etc.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Model #3900 Mighty Dump changed to the blow molded Mighty balloon tire. The Mighty balloon tire was 1 3/8" larger in diameter and 1/8" wider than the tire it replaced
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Fender openings on the cab of the Mighty Dump, Mighty Shovel, Mighty Crane and Mighty Car Carrier tractor were flared to eliminate a potential safety issue.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: The "Steel" logo was added to both sides of the Car Carrier trailer.
