1979 Tonka Gas Turbine models totaled only 6. They are #2585 Hydraulic Dump, #2635 Shell Tanker, #2845 Car Carrier, #2950 Snorkel Pumper, #2960 Aerial Ladder and the #2958 Log Truck. No new models were added in 1979. 1978 models that did not make it to 1979 were #2831 Lowboy & Dozer, #2970 Material Handling Set and #2971 Sanitary Service Truck.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Model #2585 Hydraulic Dump has new look for 1979 cab door labels. Another new label was affixed to the dump box bolster, driver's side only, just above the release lever. The arrow shaped label instructed the operator on how to activate the hydraulic dump bed. All other specs remained the same.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Model #2635 Shell Tanker changed from a "chrome" plated tank to silver grey plastic. The cab has the new look for 1979 door labels.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Model #2845 Car Carrier has the new look for 1979 cab door labels. The trailer changed from dark tan in 1978 to light tan in 1979. In 1978, the trailer's load consisted of 1 dark blue and 1 yellow Ranchero. In 1979, the load changed to 1 light blue and 1 red Ranchero. The labels on the side of the trailer also changed.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Model #2950 Snorkel Pumper deleted the number "34" from the lower front of the cab. The accessory hydrant and 2 rubber hoses, associated with the pumper since 1956, were deleted. A label with the word SNORKEL was added to each side of the snorkel boom.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Model #2960 Aerial Ladder remained unchanged from 1978 to 1979.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: Model #2958 Log Truck has the new look for 1979 cab door labels. In 1978, the plastic cab nose and the plastic log cradle were dark tan. In 1979 the parts changed to light tan.
