1975 Tonka Gas Turbine Trucks

Tonka Gas Turbine models totaled 9 in 1975. They were the #2585 Hydraulic Dump, #2640 Tandem Dump, #2831 Lowboy & Dozer, #2845 Car Carrier, #2950 Snorkel Pumper and the #2960 Aerial Ladder. New models added in 1975 were the #2635 Tanker, #2992 Ramp Hoist and #2997 Crane Boom on Flatbed. Tonka deleted model #2620 Cement Mixer.

1975 was the last year for the born as designed Gas Turbine. From 1965 through 1975, the Gas Turbine remained basically unchanged except for tweaks made to maximize child safety and minimize manufacturing costs. That would all change in 1976. "I just want to say one word to you....plastic."

OBSERVATION: The crane boom used on model #2997 Crane Boom on Flatbed is the wrecker boom as used on model #3915 Mighty Tonka Wrecker.

OBSERVATION Model #2997 Crane Boom on Flatbed is pictured in the 1975 Tonka dealer catalog with 2 pallet boxes. However, the toy only came with 1 pallet box. A label stating "ILLUSTRATION INCORRECT, ONLY ONE BOX INCLUDED" was adhered to the Tonka dealer catalog page featuring model #2997.

CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR: The load on the Model #2845 Car Carrier changed from one blue Mustang and one red Ranchero in 1974 to one red and one blue Mustang in 1975.
